Bangladesh calls for timely completion of war crimes trial

Dhaka, Jan 15 (ANI): Leading Bangladeshi businessman Yusuf Abdullah Harun has called for timely completion of the ongoing war crimes trial. Harun said that the ongoing trial should take place in a fair manner. Harun added that the accused persons were influential and added that the perpetrators of the crime must be brought to justice. A war crimes tribunal, which was set up in 2010, requires wrapping up investigations of all those who were accused, as the government aims to finish their trials before Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s five-year term ends. However, Jamaat-e-Islami and its close ally the Bangladesh Nationalist Party has alleged that the tribunal hearing the case takes orders from the government.
