Money laundering case arrests four NSU trustees | Bangladesh News | NewsRme

In a complaint filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), police detained four North South University trustees for embezzling about Tk300 crore in the pretext of land purchase for the campus.

Mohammed Shajahan, MA Kashem, Benajir Ahmed, and Rehana Rahman have all been detained.

On Sunday, the High Court rejected their anticipatory bail request and handed them over to the police.
Following their arrest, police presented them in front of a Dhaka court on Monday, according to Shahbagh police station Inspector (Investigation) Mahfuzul Haque.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) accused North South University (NSU) chairman of the board of trustees, Azim Uddin Ahmed, and five others on May 5 for embezzling Tk 303.82 crore in the pretense of purchasing property for the school.

The complaint was filed by ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patwar’s investigative officer.
Amin Mobammad Hilali, the managing director of Ashalaya Housing and Developers Limited, is the other defendant.
