Dangerous 'Happy Water' drug becomes an epidemic in Thailand's nightlife

Thailand’s Department of Medicine is warning against a dangerous cocktail of illicit drugs called “Happy Water,” which has become an “epidemic” in the country’s nightlife scene. The drink is made by mixing various drugs, including ketamine, ecstasy, methamphetamine, diazepam, caffeine, and tramadol. Happy Water can cause stimulating, hallucinogenic, sedative, and depressive effects, making it dangerous when mixed with alcohol or taken in high quantities. Drug dealers often pack the cocktail formula into sachets to be distributed around nightclubs and mixed into drinks. Travellers are warned not to accept drinks from strangers in Thailand’s nightlife venues in case they’ve been spiked.
