Today, a Cox’s Bazar court will rule on the infamous Maj Sinha murder case.
The suspects include suspended Teknaf Police Station OIC Pradeep Kumar Das, Baharchara investigation centre OIC Liaqat Ali, 10 cops, and three aides.
APBn police opened fire on Sinha Rashed Khan in July 2020 at an APBn checkpoint on Marine Drive, killing him.
The victim’s relatives called it a cold-blooded murder.
Judge Mohammed Ismail Hossain will rule.
“Major Sinha was slain by the accused in a deliberate way, and the prosecution has been able to show that before the court without question,” said prosecutor Faridul Alam.
He expected the court to punish the defendants severely.
Suspended officers’ assistants Nurul Amin, Nezam Uddin and Ayaz Uddin are also among the accused.
They’re all in prison.
Before Sinha was killed, Inspector Liaqat’s squad took over the checkpoint from three APBn officials.
Sinha was shot while filming films for his YouTube account in Marishbunia. He’d been shooting in the neighborhood for a month.
The cops said they sought to search Sinha’s vehicle but he pointed his weapon at them, causing them to fire in self-defense.
They said they discovered narcotics in his vehicle.
Witnesses presented conflicting reports of the occurrence.
They stated Sinha stepped out of his vehicle, hands over his head, and the cops shot him. After the incident, Teknaf and Ramu police stations received two cases each.
Five days later, Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous charged Pradeep, Liaqat, and seven others with murder.
Five months after Sinha’s death, Rab-15 investigating officer Senior ASP Mohammad Khairul Islam filed the charge sheet.
