Is it Safe to Travel Sri Lanka Now? 🇱🇰 – Shocking Reality of Tourist Life in the Crisis

I was in Sri Lanka for the last 3 months (Feb- May 2022) as a tourist amidst the economy collapsing and saw the Sri Lankan political crisis unfold in front of me as citizens across the country took to the streets to protest the government’s mismanagement and demand President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s resignation. Here is a summary of my experience during this time, why I think safety (for tourists) isn’t what certain media outlets make it out to be, and reasons why it can be tricky to visit Sri Lanka at the moment
