Rohingya refugees or refugees in Bangladesh means Rohingya refugees or refugees coming to Bangladesh from Myanmar. As of December 2016, about 655,000 to 600,000 Rohingya refugees took refuge in Bangladesh to escape the genocide that began on August 25, 2016 by Myanmar’s military. More than 300,000 Rohingya have fled the Myanmar government’s violent persecution over the past three decades. At the moment, at least 11 lakh Rohingyas have taken shelter in Cox’s Bazar. On March 1, 2019, Bangladesh announced that it would no longer accept new Rohingya refugees. These Myanmar nationals, who were forcibly displaced, are doing money transactions in various camps in Cox’s Bazar. Many are involved in the arms and drug trade. Rohingyas are forming various committees in the camp without the knowledge of the administration. The law and order situation is deteriorating. Law enforcers are also not aware of what is happening in the camp at night. In the last four years, 1,296 cases have been registered against Rohingyas for 12 types of crimes. The accused are 2,650 Rohingyas.
