In Jahangirnagar University, an outsider couple was summoned and accused of gang-raping the husband and his wife. 4 people from the university including the main accused have been arrested in this incident.
The incident of rape took place in the forest adjacent to Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall of the University on Saturday night around 9:30.
The accused are Mustafizur Rahman, a student of the 45th batch of the International Relations Department of the University and Mamun, an outsider. Among them, Mostafiz is a resident student of Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall and the international affairs secretary of the university branch Chhatra League.
According to the victim, the accused Mamun called the victim to the university on Saturday evening on the basis of their previous identity in Jirani of Ashulia. Later, the husband kept the wife downstairs and locked her in a room of Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall of the university and the accused went downstairs and raped the 9 women in the forest adjacent to the hall.
The proctor of the university A.S.M Feroz-ul-Hasan said that we are giving all possible assistance to the police in investigating the incident and taking necessary measures. Whoever is involved in the incident should be brought under punishment.
According to the police, the victim’s husband filed a case at Ashulia police station as the plaintiff. Four students including Mustafiz were arrested. Efforts are on to arrest the other accused named Mamun.
After learning about this incident, the students started protesting in front of Mir Musharraf Hossain Hall last night. Later this afternoon, the students again started the movement in the campus. In the protest, the students started shouting slogans demanding justice for the rapist.
