Children bought and sold | Inside India's Child Trafficking Horror | Mojo Investigation

Child trafficking has tripled over the last 15 years, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). In India too, a large proportion of children are trapped in the vicious cycle of child labour and many fall for child traffickers. A report by NHRC states that over 40,000 children become victims’ of child trafficking. Mojo Story takes you to the far distant villages in Bihar’s Gaya district which has witnessed a colossal amount of child trafficking. We talked to three different families who lost their child after falling for false claims made by child traffickers. They narrate the horrors that their child went through and how in one case the child returned “half dead” and in another, mother couldn’t even see the dead body of her child. Most of these families sent their children via child traffickers to work in bangle factories in Jaipur in order to earn a nominal income to sustain their families. This is the tragedy that many face every passing year and yet continue to fall for it despite there being several enforcement & investigative agencies at work. Watch our special report by Hrishikesh from Ground Zero in Bihar.
