Japan is the largest bilateral development partner of Bangladesh. It provided about $27 billion as grant and loan to Bangladesh since independence. Now, Japan is implementing some of the major infrastructure projects that can change the face of the country. The two countries want to elevate the relations to strategic level during the visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Japan. Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ito Naoki, shared his views in an exclusive interview with Porimol Palma of The Daily Star, as he ends his tenure in December this year.

About The Daily Star :
The Daily Star is a leading media organization and highest circulated English daily of Bangladesh, updated 24/7 with breaking, political, business, entertainment, sports, and crime news. The Daily Star established its place in the media scene of Bangladesh on January 14, 1991. It started its journey with a sense of challenge and a feeling of humility to serve this nation as a truly independent newspaper. The newspaper made its debut at a historic time when, with the fall of an autocratic regime, the country was well set to begin a new era towards establishing a democratic system of government which eluded Bangladesh for too long.
