Bangladesh is a South Asian country famous for having the world’s largest river delta. It is also known for the longest natural uninterrupted sea beach, Cox’s Bazar beach, 150km. While these are impressive things to be known for, Bangladesh offers something more alive and deadly. Bangladesh is most famous as home to the royal Bengal tiger.
The Bengal tiger is a part of the tiger subspecies native to the Indian continent. The Bangladesh Bengal is among the biggest wild cats globally, and some of their characteristics constitute the theory that they are the deadliest tigers in the world.

The yellow to light orange Bengal tiger is relatively large. The average tiger is 80 inches from head to the body with a 42-inch tail. The Bengal tiger is also average 261kg. In contrast, Tigers in captivity can grow bigger than this weight. The largest free-range Bengal tigers weighing 270kg were seen at the Chitwan national park. Although, in 1967, the largest ever Bengal was killed at the foothills of the Himalayas. The tiger had eaten a buffalo calf and weighed 388.7kg while 127 inches long. The weight before the buffalo meal could be 342.3kg.

The Bengal tiger is unique to India and Bangladesh. The tigers are found in a mangrove area called the Sundarbans. There are some of these tigers found in Bhutan and Nepal, neighbors of India. Bhutan Bengal tigers are found in 17 districts. They are mostly found inhabiting the Himalayan foothills. In Nepal, the largest population can be found in Chitwan National Park and Parsa National Park. India’s subtropical temperate forests that house the tigers are many.

The tiger has seen a decline in its population as an animal. Conservatory projects have also faced some pushback from locals who are convinced that tigers must die. A study showed that people with less than eight years of education believe that Tiger protection efforts are not exemplary. There have also been cases where protection agents themselves have had to kill some tigers due to public protests and other government interventions. Three centuries ago, there were three subspecies more of tigers worldwide.

The Royal Bengal is a carnivore. Since it is found in the Indian subcontinent, predators and prey are also common species in those areas. The Bengal tiger hunts large mammals with hooves. Those are from the family called Ungulate. The specific species include chital, guar, sambar, buffalo, takin, serow, and nilgai. It also preys on the wild boar, grey langur, Indian muntjac, and hog deer. It also preys on peafowl, hares, and porcupines, although they are a small part of its diet. The encroachment of humans into the Bengal space also makes it prey on livestock, which was not a part of their diet until recent times.

The survival of the Bengal tiger is primarily owed to works by the Conservation authorities. However, none of those in the subareas where the tigers are found is large enough. The conservatory locations cannot effectively handle more than 250 individual tigers at once. Government decisions like the Forest Rights Act gave deserving impoverished people the right to live in forests.

A Bengal tiger by nature is a predator. It is one of the apex predators in the wild, which suffers no superior predators. This may be attributed to its powerful and agile physique. The Bengal tiger is an excellent jumper. It can leap up to about 10 meters due to the agility of its body. It can also sprint at remarkable speed for short distances. While it does not climb due to its weight, the Bengal is also an outstanding swimmer. It also has a stalking approach to preying. It stays quiet and observes before getting close and attacking. Its fast nature is always a fatality nod.

Depending on where you stand, 40 to 50 attacks on humans a year are rare. For India that holds 25% of the world’s tiger population, these man-eating tigers, as BBC refers to them, can stay away from humans. The number is rare because compared to elephants, which kill 350 people annually, the accidents that lead to tigers fatally attacking humans are always provocation.

To understand the lifespan and cycle, we need to mention the reproduction process of the Bengal tiger. The young tigers are often born between December and April. They are said to be between March and November probably. This is speculative because they have no mating and birth seasons. While mating happens throughout the year, the peak sexual activity is from November to February.
