Al Jazeera has obtained new video footage suggesting Bangladesh’s government is hiding the true death toll from recent violence, what protesters call the “Seige of Dhaka”.

According to official figures, eleven people died in fighting between police and protesters from Hifazat-e-Islam, an Islamic group, on May 6.

But Human Rights Watch, a US-based non-governmental group, says its independent sources suggest the number of people killed was at least 50.
