Bachelet: 'Really concerned' about Russian trials of Ukrainian POWs | DW News

United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet is due to step down at the end of the month.

The former Chilean president spoke to DW about a range of subjects, including Russia’s war in Ukraine, China, Myanmar, Nicaragua, and climate change.

Bachelet said her office had been working to establish the truth on the ground in Ukraine more widely when it came to human rights.

“People have suffered so much. And we have been trying to do different things. We are on the ground, speaking out, informing the world [that] these things are happening, calling on the parties to stop, calling on Putin to stop the war, calling on the parties to respect the situation of prisoners of war.”
