Sylhet division consists of Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar and Habiganj.
It is said that the name of this area is Shil Hat (later Sylhet) due to rock or stone due to the protection of Hazrat Shahjalal (R).

Sylhet division is an expatriate township. In addition to the United Kingdom, United States of America, Australia, Canada and European countries, there are people living in Sylhet division of the world including Middle East. Foreign exchange sent by expatriates is the main source of this division. Sylhet district has contributed the most to the economy of Bangladesh.
