#bengalclassicalmusicfestival
Vidushi Bombay Jayashree, one of the finest exponents of Indian classical music, showcased her mastery in Carnatic music in the second edition of Bengal Classical Music Festival, held in 2013. She demonstrated with great elan, sruti, swara, raga and tala, which form the foundation of improvisation and composition in the Carnatic tradition. She is one of the few artists in the Indian music circuit, who learned and perfected both the Carnatic and North Indian genres. By the age of six, Vidushi Jayashree had already memorised over eighty kirtans. She took lessons in North Indian classical music from K Mahavir Jaipurwale and Ajay Pohankar, and learned Carnatic music from the legendary Lalgudi Jayaraman.
