Md. Moniruzzaman was born in Munshiganj, Bangladesh, to a family with a musical lineage. He was introduced to the flute at an early age under the expert tutelage of his father Ustad Abdur Rahman. His grandfather Ustad Akram Ali was an enlisted violinist of the All India Radio, Guwahati Station. In 1979, Md. Moniruzzaman joined Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and continues to be an enlisted artist of Bangladesh Radio and Television, and a lifetime member of Dhaka Orchestra. He is an exponent of the bamboo flute and saxophone, and has received acclaim from music connoisseurs across the globe. In the third edition of the Bengal Classical Music Festival, held in Dhaka in 2014, Moniruzzaman enthralled the audience with a soulful rendition of Raga Bageshree in the flute.
