As many as 2,000 passengers were on their way to India through Benapole checkpost on Sunday. Only 300 passengers have traveled so far on Monday. The number of passengers has also started declining suddenly.

Indian immigration does not allow anyone to enter India without medical and business visa (import-export documents). A total of 62 passengers were examined from December 5 to January 2. Omicron has been detected in the body of one of them. He is being treated in isolation at Jessore Medical College Hospital.

Dwip Ghosh, an Indian national, said that new restrictions have been announced in West Bengal to combat coronavirus. Educational institutions have been closed and traffic has been controlled.
