Synopsis::
Sitar Banbas is the dramatization of asection taken from the Hindu epic Ramayan and tells the story of Sita after the 14 years’ exile. Themovie opens withRam inAyodhya crowned as king after his exile and queen Sita bears his child. His subjects accuse Ramtobe naiveenough to let Sita back into the kingdom after spending a year in Lanka. Torn between love and kingship, Ram sends Lakshmanto take Sita to the forest for exile. Sita is appalled and greatly grieved and meets with the great hermit Valmiki, who takes her to his hermitage. There, she gives birth to two sons Luv and Kush and they grow up to be strong and learned. They sing the Ramayan in praise and visit Ayodhya to meet Ram. There they learn the fate of Sita and misjudge Ram for his banishment of Sitain turn lose all respect for Ram. Later the two brothers fight Lakshman, Shatrughnya and call for Ram and Hanuman as a last resort. Hanuman brings Sita to stop the fight between father and son. As a resolution Sita choses neither to return to Ram nor live a hermit’s life and begs Mother Goddess to absorb her intothe earth from where she had come. The movie ends with Luv and Kush beingdeemed Princes of Ayodhya and Sita and Ram are reunited in theheavens as Goddess Lakshmi andLord Vishnu.
