With an area of about 84 hectares the Bangladesh National Herbarium and National Botanic Garden comprise the country’s largest plant conservation institution (210 acres). In Mirpur-2 Dhaka 1100 next to the zoo it is situated. In 1961 it was founded. It serves as a botanic garden a learning facility for botanists and nature enthusiasts and a popular tourist attraction. About 100000 plant specimens that have been conserved are part of the herbarium’s scientific collection. Administratively the National Garden includes the Baldha Garden which lies in the Wari neighborhood of Dhaka.The garden provides learning and recreational facilities adjacent to the Dhaka Zoo. It is divided into 57 sections and is managed by Forest Department under Ministry of Environment and Forests Government of Bangladesh.
