Blue Helmets from Bangladesh offer hope to communities in Northern Mali

UN Peacekeepers from Bangladesh serving in the UN Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) travel to remote parts in Northern Mali to provide security and free medical consultations to communities in need on a daily basis.

This life-saving services benefit communities where access to basic services is scarce or non-existent. In Battal, a small village near Gao, Northern Mali, people suffer from preventable diseases but have no access to basic health services. With the help of the Blue helmets from Bangladesh, people in this remote area can benefit from health care and related services, otherwise not available to them. The provision of basic social services to these remote communities is part of MINUSMA’s long term strategy to contribute to the peace and stability in Mali.
