The story of the film begins with Aditya Narayan (Dipankar De) and his wife Monimala (Mamata Shankar) waiting for the return of their daughter Devika (Rachana Banerjee) from Kolkata. The father who is no longer a Zamindar now still clings on to his long lost pride of blue blood. The daughter Devika differs in thought from her father. She works for the betterment of the village, helps poor villagers meet their ends and spreads education with her own limited means. It is this tussle that leads to the death of Monimala.

Devika leaves for Kolkata to pursue higher studies. The villagers who cannot afford a square meal are forced to sell their daughters for money. The girl traffickers plan to sell off many girls and it is then Nargis (Rituparna Sengupta) comes to the rescue of the girls.

In the meantime Devika comes back to take charge of her ancestral property. Manish, a idol maker by proffesion is in love with Amina, a blind Muslim girl. Trouble begins when he decides to make the idol with clay from the Muslim inhabited area. Is Devika successful in organizing the Durga Puja ?
