This Bangla Folk song is a delicate yet bold manifestation of the soul. Simple, deep but engraving words leave an unfathomable impact that even turns the mundane lives valuable and meaningful. Music is magic; words of music express the inexpressible and bring out the deep-rooted latent realizations on the surface. This traditional song is a masterpiece in itself, sung soulfully and naturally by artiste Sahana Bajpaie, and arranged by artiste Samantak Sinha, a unique voice of his own kind.
This folk song has been collected by Santanu Dutta, a musicologist residing in Santiniketan, from a female singer whose name could not be known in a village near the town of Behrampore, West Bengal, India. The song’s first line has clearly been inspired by Sylhet, Bangladesh’s Shah Abdul Karim’s “Amar Haat Bandhibo Faao Bandhibo”
