নিয়ম অনুযায়ী একবার নিবন্ধিত সিম অব্যবহৃত হওয়ার পর ৫৪০ দিনের আগে পুনরায় নতুন করে অন্য কারও নামে নিবন্ধন করা যায় না।

বিদেশীরা সিম নিয়ে স্বল্প সময় ব্যবহার করে তা রেখে ফিরে গেলে ওই সিম ভিসার মেয়াদ বা সর্বোচ্চ ৬ মাস পর্যন্ত সচল থাকে। এসময় সিমটি বেহাত হয়ে অসাধু চক্রের হাতে গেলে অপরাধ সম্ভাবনা থাকে।

যেসব শর্তে ট্যুরিস্ট সিম চালু হচ্ছে :
ট্যুরিস্ট সিম একটি নির্দিষ্ট নম্বর ব্লকের হবে। এই ব্লকের বাইরে অপরারেটররা ট্যুরিস্ট সিম বরাদ্দ দিতে পারবে না।ট্যুরিস্ট সিম হবে ৭, ১৫ এবং ৩০ দিন মেয়াদে । আর নিবন্ধনকৃত ওই সিম ৩০ দিন পর অনিবন্ধিত হয়ে যাবে। ট্যুরিস্ট সিমের পরে যদি কোনো বিদেশীর দীর্ঘমেয়াদে সিম প্রয়োজন হয় তাহলে বিডার ওয়ার্ক পারমিটের বিপরেতে নিয়মিত নতুন সিম নিতে পারবেন। এখানে তার ব্যবহৃত ট্যুরিস্ট সিমের কোনো রূপান্তর করা যাবে না এবং দীর্ঘমেয়াদে ট্যুরিস্ট সিমের কোনো নম্বর নিতে পারবেন না।অপারেটররা বিদেশী বা পর্যটকের চাহিদার প্রেক্ষিত্রে ভিন্ন অফার-প্যাকেজ দিতে পারবেন। তবে দেশে-বিদেশে ডেটা, ভয়েস, এসএমএস এবং কম্বো প্যাকেজ ছাড়া আর কোনও প্যাকেজ অফার করা যাবে না।এই সিমের জন্য করা প্যাকেজ-অফারে বিটিআরসির পূর্বানুমতি লাগবে। আর প্যাকেজগুলো অপারেটরের নিয়মিত প্যাকেজের মধ্যে পড়বে না।সেন্ট্রাল বায়োমেট্রিক ভেরিফিকেশন মনিটরিং প্লাটফর্মে এ সিম আলাদাভাবে চিহ্নিত করা হবে।একটি পাসপোর্টে সর্বোচ্চ দুটি সিম নিবন্ধন করা যাবে। থাকবে ই-সিম সুবিধাও।এয়ারপোর্ট, ল্যান্ডপোর্ট বা নৌবন্দরসহ দেশের সব পোর্ট অব এট্রিতে বিটিআরসি অনুমোদিত অপারেটরগুলোর রিটেইলাররা এবং দেশের কাস্টমার কেয়ারগুলোতে ট্যুরিস্ট সিম নিবন্ধন করা যাবে।
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is set to launch a “tourist SIM” for foreign travellers coming to Bangladesh.

Validity periods of 7, 15 or 30 days can be availed and a maximum of two SIMs can be registered against one passport, according to documents of the telecom regulator.

Tourists can also collect e-SIMs on demand at the time of entry through any port.
An e-SIM, or embedded SIM, can be electronically programmed into a mobile phone without the need for manual insertion.

If it is needed for longer periods, the subscriber can exchange it for a regular SIM showing work permits.

Most foreigners and tourists usually visit the country for short periods.
Once they leave, the SIM registered against their passport remains unused and no revenue is generated from it.

As per the rules, an unused registered SIM cannot be re-registered in someone else’s name before 540 days.

This results in the wastage of limited resources like Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number, which uniquely identifies a subscription in a mobile network.

The tourist SIM will be identified separately on the Central Biometric Verification Monitoring Platform of the government and all related packages and offers of mobile operators will require prior approval of the BTRC.
