The Police Bureau of Investigation has recently submitted the charge sheet to a Dhaka court, concluding that the silver screen star Salman Shah was not murdered. This comes twenty-five years after his death. Was this really true? What really happened prior his death ? Let’s dive into the case of popular actor of Bangladesh Salman Shah.
Shah was born Shahriar Chowdhury Emon on 19 September 1971 in Zakiganj, Sylhet, Bangladesh, to Nilufar Zaman Chowdhury and Kamaruddin Chowdhury. Shah was named after his father. He was the older brother of a man who went by the name Chowdhury Mohammad Shahran Evan. In 1985, Shah made her debut on public television for the first time as a model for a music video that was directed and produced by Hanif Sanket. After that, he had roles in a few commercials as well as a bit part in a television drama. After twenty-five years have passed since the death of silver screen star Salman Shah, the Police Bureau of Investigation has finally handed over the charge sheet to a court in Dhaka. The charge sheet makes it abundantly obvious that the actor was not killed in any way. The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) believes that Salman Shah committed himself as a result of an extramarital affair he had with his co-actress Shabnur and a quarrel that existed between his wife and his family. This information was disclosed by PBI Chief and Deputy Inspector General Banaj Kumar Majumder at a press briefing that took place on Monday at the PBI headquarters in the nation’s capital. On the morning of September 6, 1996, the body of Salman Shah was discovered dangling from a ceiling fan in his home in New Eskaton Garden, which is located in the capital. The’suicide note’ was found by the authorities at the residence at the time. The message was also read out loud by the head of the PBI during the news conference. He stated that after Salman’s death, numerous different investigation authorities had conducted comprehensive tests on the note.
In addition to that, the police investigated the note with the assistance of handwriting experts and professionals. Following an analysis of the handwriting, they determined that it was really written by Salman Shah,” stated the head of the PBI. In the note, it states, “I am Chowdhury Md Shahriar, and my father’s name is Kamar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury.” 146/5 Green Road, Dhaka # 1215, alias Salman Shah is the address. I solemnly swear that no one will be to blame for my passing away either today or on any other day after today. I have made the decision to end my life on my own free will and with complete mental clarity. According to the findings of the PBI investigation, the primary motivating factor behind Salman Shah’s decision to take his own life was the developing romantic relationship he had with Shabnur. The Pakistani Broadcasting Corporation (PBI) asserted that poor marital ties between the actor Salman Shah and his wife Samira Haq were also a contributing factor in the actor’s decision to take his own life. The PBI noted in the charge sheet that Salman Shah had previously attempted suicide on multiple occasions and that he was also upset by the difficult and deteriorating relationship that existed between his mother and his wife. The team conducting the examination also asserted that he experienced a sense of conjugal incompleteness due to the absence of any offspring. According to Monoara Begum, who worked as a maid at Salman’s home at the time, Salman had feelings for both Shabnur and Samira. This is what she revealed in her statement. Even though he had already tied the knot with Samira, he had his heart set on making Shabnur his second wife. According to another part of the testimony, Samira did not approve of her brother Salman marrying Shabnur as his second wife. On September 6, 1996, at the age of 25, Salman Shah, a well-known actor from the 1990s silver screen, passed away under unexplained circumstances. When one Rezvi Ahmed was caught from the residence where Salman Shah’s mother was staying, his father, Kamaruddin Chowdhury, changed the investigation from an investigation into an unusual death to a murder investigation. Rezvi first admitted that he had been the one responsible for the actor’s death, along with eight other individuals, including Salman’s wife and mother-in-law. However, at a later time, he recanted his confession as it had been made in front of the police. Separate investigations were conducted into the matter by the Detective Branch, the Criminal Investigation Department of the police, and a judicial probe body. All three of these entities came to the conclusion that Salman Shah’s death was an instance of an unnatural death and submitted their reports. However, Salman Shah’s family refused to accept this conclusion. On December 7, 2016, a court in Dhaka issued an order requesting that the PBI conduct a new investigation into the case.
