Nawab Bahadur decides to increase the taxes which puts Maharaj under a lot of stress. Gopal suggests Montri go and have a word with Nawab on the same. Montri goes speechless hearing this and tells Maharaj that Gopal should go as he is good with negotiation. Gopal asks Maharaj to send a letter to Nawab and request him to lower the taxes.

Stories about his exploits are narrated in Bengal to this day and are immortalized in countless short stories. The stories are short, beautiful, humorous and have a specific social message. Gopal Bhar is famous for stories of his wisdom, in which he outwits other fellow courtiers.
