In this episode our tour to Chittagong Bangladesh continues as I went to a famous place of Chittagong called Tal company, which is actually a hawkers market. Long time ago this market was famous for second hand or used important garments like shirts, pants, t-shirts, winter clothing as jackets, sweaters etc. At my childhood I used to go to this market for shopping before eid and other occasions. Though at eid people used to go Chittagong new market also known as Biponi Bitan, people who are not much well off would go to this Tal company hawkers market. This market is no more, instead there is another hawkers market named johur market, which is similar to Dhaka Bongo Bazar hawkers market. The Bongo Bazar hawkers market recently caught a fire and lots of small business owners suffered severe financial loss due to the fire. Many shop owners business are totally ruined as all the readymade garment stock were burnt to ashes with that fire. Particularly before eid ul fitre, this is a big loss of business. So I moved around that hawkers market and searched for any remaining of the historical tal company. Then I went to the Chittagong new market or biponi bitan, which is the very first shopping mall of Bangladesh. This is older and bigger than dhaka new market. The shopping mall has lost many of it’s charm but still holding on the lost glory of Chittagong city. There is a famous restaurant named Liberty which is continuing it’s business since sixty’s. at some time the rich people would go to this liberty restaurant to try their famous faluda. To commemorate that historical dessert, I also went to that restaurant and tried that faluda.
I live in Adelaide, Australia one of the best city in the world and Australia to live and Bangladesh is unfortunately one of the worst country to live where the Dhaka city is one of the worst city to live. However this is my home country and I have many memories on Dhaka and other parts in Bangladesh as Chittagong, Manikganj. So we are quite excited to come to Bangladesh from Australia this time. This time we will stay in Bangladesh for a month and it is like tourism as we don’t have much work to do. So it will be a family trip from Australia to Dhaka to see the friends and family and enjoy what Bangladesh has to offer. As Bangladeshi migrants the foremost Australian value we have adopted is perhaps the love for traveling, and why not – Australia is one of the most amazing country for traveling, and in my view the best country to travel. Australia has many unique things to see and experience as tourist or local, which make this country a unique place – like no other countries in the world. As an immigrant in Australia I feel lucky about that and I believe my immigration to Australia is worthy. But no travel compares to the travel to Bangladesh, my home country.
