Synopsis:::
‘Ratrir Tapasya’ is the story of relationships. Bhupen is a meritorious student who worked as a private tutor to support his education and family. He starts teaching Sandhya, a rich man’s granddaughter. They develop a close bond. Sandhya develops feelings for him. When her grandfather realizes it he summons Bhupen and asks him to stop tutoring her as he had promised his dead daughter never to get her daughter married to a poor man. Bhupen feels insulted as he never had such feelings for Sandhya. He takes up a job in a village school and eventually marries Kalyani, the daughter of a helpless blind teacher. Before his death Sandhya’s grandfather realizes that he made a mistake. He appoints Bhupen as the caretaker of his property. Greedy relatives are eon lookout to usurp Sandhya’s wealth. Sandhya decides to get married to save the property. She chooses Bhupen as her groom but she also mentions that she would never demand the rights of a wife. They get married and Bhupen leaves. Sandhya stays back and runs a school started by her. Sandhya goes to meet Bhupen when she hears that he’s on his death-bed but he dies before they can meet..
