At a time where every team has just stacked their calendars up with T20s in the buildup to the mega event New Zealand are still doing things the old fashioned way. The preparations for the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup are in full swing and New Zealand is all set to square off against Pakistan in the 2nd match of the Tri-Series 2022 at the Hagley Oval Christchurch.

Pakistan kickstarted the competition in a solid manner after defeating Bangladesh by a margin of 21 runs. Batting first Babar Azam’s men could get to a total of 167 runs on the back of Mohammed Rizwan’s sensational 78* of 50 deliveries.

The Men in Green showed a team effort in their bowling and restricted the Tigers to 146 runs thereby winning by a margin of 21 runs. All of their bowlers bagged a wicket with Mohammed Wasim Jr. being the pick of them three in his bag.

Team Overview (New Zealand):
New Zealand arrives on the scene after being on the receiving end of a clean sweep in the hands of Australia in the Trans-Tasmanian ODI series.

The last T20I series they played was against West Indies where they incurred a 2-1 series win. The worst possible news for the Kiwis is that Daryl Mitchell has been ruled out of the series owing to a fracture in the finger. He is also doubtful for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Earlier Blair Tickner was called up as a cover for Mitch Santner who will arrive later in the ongoing trio event due to the birth of his first child.

Pitch Report: The surface at Hagley Oval assists the bowlers more. Since the boundaries at this venue are quite big scoring runs here won’t be easy here. The team winning the toss should opt to bowl first.
