Padma Bridge: Bangladesh's Longest Bridge to Cut Dhaka-Kolkata Travel Time By Half

The road from Benapole to Dhaka will be 70km shorter and 4.30 hours faster.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Padma Bridge on Saturday, the country’s biggest infrastructure project since 1971.

This would increase the country’s development index and connect India to Dhaka through road, rail, and ports.

Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, director of the project, said the design and construction of the Padma Bridge was not the sole achievement of one particular person or organisation. Many people have contributed a lot.

The bus is the most popular way to reach Bangladesh from India through the Petrapole–Benapole border.

The road from Benapole to Dhaka will be 70km shorter and 4.30 hours faster. It will reduce the Kolkata-Dhaka train journey. The Padma Bridge will connect India, Nepal, China, Myanmar, Singapore, and Thailand.
