Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, also known as Agartala Airport,is an international airport situated 12 kilometres (7 miles) northwest of Agartala, the capital of the state of Tripura in India. It is administered by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).It is the second busiest airport in North-East India after Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport and 29th busiest airport in India. It is the third international airport in North-East India, after Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport and Imphal Airport. The new terminal of the airport has 20 check-in counters, six parking bays, four aerobridges, conveyor belts and passenger-friendly modern facilities and amenities like In-Line Baggage System (ILBS), Escalators, Lifts, etc. In addition to the new terminal building, a new parallel taxiway to the runway and two new hangars are being built.
The new Integrated Terminal building with state of the art infrastructure will be a landmark building for the state of Tripura and will have a handling capacity of 3 million passengers per annum. With a built-up area of 30,000 sq. metres, the new terminal building has been designed to handle 1,000 domestic and 200 international passengers during peak hours and will be equipped with all modern amenities.
In addition to the New Terminal building, two new Taxiways, Hangar for A-321, new Isolation Bay, CISF Barrack, E & M Workshop and new operational boundary wall have also been constructed at a cost of around Rs. 113.00 crores.
Direction for Indian Students: The students who came to Bangladesh to study MBBS, first they to go Komolapur Bus stand or Railway station from Bd hostel to buy a ticket. Then they will reach at Bramanbaria. From that they need to book a CNG or car whatever will be convenient and will go to the Agartala Boarder.
Crossing the boarder they will find the Agartala Airport from where they can fly to their destination.
Also it should be noted, one can also fly from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Agartala Airport directly.
