বাংলাদেশ প্রিমিয়ার লিগের গত আসরে স্পট ফিক্সিয় কা-ে আরামবাগ ক্রীড়া সংঘের সাবেক সভাপতি মিনহাজুল ইসলাম মিনহাজসহ চার জনকে সারা বিশে^র ফুটবল থেকে আজীবন নিষিদ্ধ করেছে ফিফা। এছাড়া দলটির আরো দুই কর্মকর্তা ও ১৪ খেলোয়াড়কে দেয়া হয়েছে বিভিন্ন মেয়াদে নিষেধাজ্ঞা।
আর্থিক সঙ্কট কাটাতে ২০২০-২১ মৌসুমে দলের স্পন্সর প্রতিষ্ঠানের হাতে ক্লাব পরিচালনার দায়িত্ব তুলে দিয়েছিল আরামবাগ। দল পরিচালনার জন্য বিদেশি কোচিং স্টাফ ও খেলোয়াড় এনেছিলেন তারা। তবে খেলার চেয়ে অনলাইন বেটিং ও স্পট ফিক্সিং ছিল তাদের মূল লক্ষ্য। দলের কয়েক জন খেলোয়াড়কেও এ কাজে জড়িয়ে ফেলেছিল তারা।
গত মৌসুমে মাঠের খেলায় ব্যর্থ হয়ে রেলিগেশনের মুখে পড়ে আরামবাগ। আর বাফুফের তদন্তে প্রমাণ হয়, কমপক্ষে চারটি ম্যাচে বেটিং ও ফিক্সিংয় করেছে আরামবাগের কর্মকর্তারা।
এ অপরাধে আরামবাগ ক্লাবকে দুই বছরের জন্য প্রথম বিভাগে নামিয়ে দিয়েছে বাফুফে। জরিমানা করা হয় ৫ লাখ টাকা।
সেইসঙ্গে আরামবাগের সেই সময়ের সভাপতি এম স্পোর্টসের স্বত্বাধিকারী মিনহাজুল ইসলাম মিনহাজ, টিম ম্যানেজার গওহর জাহাঙ্গীর রুশো, ফিটনেস ট্রেনার ভারতীয় নাগরিক মাইদুল ইসলাম শেখ এবং টিম সহকারি ম্যানেজার আরিফ হোসেনকে ফুটবল থেকে আজীবন নিষিদ্ধ করা বাফুফে। এছাড়া ভারতীয় দু জন কোচিং স্টাফকে আজীবন নিষিদ্ধ করা হয়। ১ বছর নিষিদ্ধ হয় ১১ খেলোয়াড়। এছাড়া অস্ট্রেলিয়ান ও বাংলাদেশি দুই খেলোয়াড়কে তিন বছর ও নাইজেরিয়ান এক খেলোয়াড়কে দুই বছর নিষেধাজ্ঞা দেয়া হয়।
বিষয়টি ফিফার ডিসিপ্লিনারি কমিটিতে আলোচনার পর অভিযুক্তদের এই নিষেধাজ্ঞা সারা বিশে^ কার্যকর করার সিদ্ধান্ত হয়েছে।

FIFA has banned four people, including former president of Arambagh Sports Association Minhazul Islam Minhaj, from world football for life in the last edition of Bangladesh Premier League. Besides, two more officials and 14 players of the team have been banned for different terms.
Arambagh handed over the responsibility of running the club to the sponsoring organization of the team in the 2020-21 season to overcome the financial crisis. They brought in foreign coaching staff and players to manage the team. However, their main goal was online betting and spot fixing rather than playing. They also involved some players of the team in this work.
Arambagh faced relegation after failing to play on the field last season. And the BFF investigation proved that Arambagh officials have been betting and fixing in at least four matches.
BFF has reduced Arambagh Club to the first division for two years for this crime. A fine of Tk 5 lakh was imposed.
BFF also banned Minhazul Islam Minhaj, proprietor of M Sports, then president of Arambagh, team manager Gawhar Jahangir Rousseau, fitness trainer Maidul Islam Sheikh, an Indian national, and team assistant manager Arif Hossain from football for life. Besides, two Indian coaching staff were banned for life. 11 players were banned for 1 year. Besides, two Australian and Bangladeshi players were banned for three years and one Nigerian player was banned for two years.
Following a discussion in the FIFA disciplinary committee, it was decided to impose the ban on the accused.
