Synopsis::
‘Protidan’ is the story of how Bansi pays Gauri for her sacrifices. Gauri is forced to choose a life of a courtesan due to adverse circumstances after her fiancée goes abroad for his education. Janaki Bai gives her shelter. After her death Gauri takes up the responsibility of her orphanage and keeps her daughter Sumi there. She meets Bansi, Janaki’s son who hated his mother for being a courtesan. She brings Bansi to the orphanage and the kids especially Sumi slowly bring about transformation in him. Gauri again faces adversities when Biharilal wants to make her his mistress. When she refuses he threatens to snatch away her orphanage land from her. Gauri kills Nimai who had been threatening her but she is acquitted. She is reunited with Samir. Bansi works hard to collect money for the orphanage land but he is fatally injured by his fellow dacoits when he leaves their company. He breathes his last in the orphanage.
